Week 50: Glory to the Newborn King

Image
Feliz Navidad a todos! I hope you all had a very merry Christmas and that you can continue to feel the spirit of the season and the importance of the birth of Christ throughout the week! On Tuesday the secretaries came over to give us our fridge! Finally. Our fridge is much newer than the other ones and because it has cup holders and even an ice cube tray!  After that we got a very expensive taxi (I don't have any more travel money because of our old trio) to the mission home to have a zone Christmas party with President and Hermana Hiatt. We had a small talent show portion and I played the arrangement of "Angels We Have Heard on High" that I've been practicing recently that I also just shared on my Facebook. I played it well, I think. Afterwards one of the new American elders who just started his mission played the piano too and I'll just say it was a good thing I went first. The more people I meet the more I realize I'm just a swiss army knife of a person....

Week 49: Paneton, More Like Barf-aton

For anyone who hasn't been staying up to date with the news in Peru there are a lot of riots and dangerous things happening in the country because of what's going on in the government. I just want you to know that I'm totally fine here in Trujillo. We haven't been locked down and there doesn't seem to be much going on right here. Although we can't have zone pdays anymore. On Tuesday we went around saying goodbye to all the people in Esperanza for elder Lumbre. Hermano Edwin took us to eat pollo la braza with him and his family. Elder Lumbre had been in this zone for almost 8 months so it was sad to see him go. He got lots of letters from the members of the wards here. I packed up all my stuff except for the things I would use that night and we moved them back to the apartment in Pueblo Libre. We made it back a little late because Elder Lumbre had so many people to say bye to. I then went to bed on the floor for the last time with the trio. These have probably ...

Week 48: The Spirit is Undeniable

How y'all doing? I'm doing well and I hope you all had a great week! Monday night we had a lesson with an hermana named Sarita in Esperanza. She's the mother of a recent convert. We went to a member's house to have a noche hogar with them and included her. We asked her to be baptized but she said no because she didn't feel worthy and because of "temptations" she has regularly. We went around the room and shared each of our testimonies. I shared mine with 1 Corinthians 10:16 and the Elder's quorum president shared a powerful testimony. We asked her again, and this time even before she gave her answer I knew she was going to say yes because the spirit was extremely strong and there's no way anyone could have denied it. She accepted! It was already 9:30, time to be in our apartment, but for some reason my comps had another noche hogar scheduled. I was tired and just wanted to go to bed, but whatcha gonna do? They fed us a full dinner of pollo la braz...

Week 47: Eat Till You Can't Breath

This was a fun week and I hope it was the same for you! Monday night my new comps decided to take me to Buffalo for a "little" birthday dinner. I got some pig and fries and couldn't finish it. It was so much food. We never got our drinks but it was still good and just a ton. Elder Lumbre finished what I couldn't and then for some reason they decided to still go to the pensionista. Normally at this point we'd tell her we can't go because we're already so full. We arrive and get hamburgers set in front of us. I don't know how Elder Lumbre did it but after finishing my dinner he ate his half burger and mine. He looked like he was dying but he spared my life from having to eat the burger.  I guess I turned 20 on Tuesday, too. Got in an awesome chest, shoulders, and triceps workout. We helped hermana Milagros move her stuff from her old room where she was evicted by the radical evangelists to a room above hermana Martha's house. We ended up packing ev...
