Week 67: The Spirit Softens Hearts

Image
Hola todos! I hope you had a great week, because I sure did! On Tuesday we went to do service for Nina but it ended up turning into a lesson. Surprisingly she started to understand more about the restoration. It seems her heart is softening and shee is beginning to understand! But then she said that since we put her on date for the 29th of April she was going to be baptized on that day. But I didn't feel she was ready because I don't think she has a full grasp upon the restoration, authority, and baptism yet. Of course she doesn't need to know everything, but atleast sufficient to know what she's getting into. After that I had my emotional resilience class and later we mapped out more of the barren wasteland that is Huanchaquito Bajo. First consejo de distrito of the transfer! The majority of us are new so it was pretty fun and I think it went well. I made another stupid fun video to give assignments. We talked about the importance of our investigators feeling the spi...

Week 66: The Holiest Taxi Driver

Image
Hola amigos! I hope you're all doing well! I don't have too much time to write this week but we'll see what I can write. Normally the buses stop running at about 8:45 so we have to get lucky sometimes if we want to make it back to Las Lomas from Huanchaquito. On Wednesday no busses were coming so we were worrying we were going to have to get a taxi, which is pretty expensive, or we'd have to walk, which would take about an hour. But luckily some passer-bys shouted "Elderes!" So we got in their car and they offered to drive us to the pension. Turns out it was the stake presidency. Stake president and the 1st and 2nd counselors. So that was fun getting casually lifted by the stake president! As for our friends we found a few new people this week we hope will progress. We found a gray dot in San Francisco for a lady named Raquel. We knocked on her door and she told us that a few years ago she had a dream about a book that would get her closer to God. She reques...

Week 65: Becoming a Saint Through the Blood of Christ

Happy late Easter to everyone! I hope you all were able to meditate on the Savior and His life, teachings, sacrifice, death, and resurrection! Pday last week we went to the mall and pulled money and did compras. Afterwards E Lopez got permission to go to the downtown to buy a new string for his guitar. We then walked to an area where we could get on the bus and ran into the office elders on the way so we just merged in with them. I'm good at cracking jokes with them. On Tuesday we were worrying because Nayeli's mom Maria wasn't responding to us (like usual) when we tried to confirm our lesson with them. We needed to have that lesson if we wanted to have her baptism that week. We got there with hermano Juan but apparently they were leaving to go help someone in Cimbal, but she told us that her day off is actually Monday now -_-. That and she said that Nayeli wanted to wait to be baptized, so that fell. We'll see what we can do, but this'll be better to help her unde...

Week 64: Return to Where It All Began

How are you all doing after conference? I'm doing great here and ready with what the Lord wants us to talk about for the next 6 months! What was your favorite talk? This week I went on exchanges with Elder Sorensen! Always a good time with my MTC comp. We had solid lessons and even found people said they'd like to be baptized. We had the exchange in his area, Tahuantinsuyo, which also happens to my birth area from 11 months ago when ai first got to the field. I was only there 3 weeks, so I didn't remember any names. Most of the members we saw didn't remember me, (which I can't blame them), although a few of them actually did, hermano Paulo specifically, who actually remembered me by name the moment he saw me. I also finally had the opportunity to weigh myself for the first time in 11 months. Funny enough the last time I had done it was in Tahuantinsuyo. Back then I weighed about 186. And now 11 months later I weigh......175! I've lost 10 pounds! That's not ...
