Week 76: Love's Redeeming Work is Done, Alleluia! (And Trio #5?)

Image
This was quite the week! On Tuesday the APs called us and told us to come to Trujillo to pick up the phone and keys for Chocope because our trio with Elder Perez is now official! We'll be together the rest of the transfer and working both Independencia and Chocpe. What fun it is to again work 2 areas! But now Elder Perez is officially my 2nd son! Elder Ochoa has a brother! Elder Thomas was also made the new DL of distirto Paijan. This transfer'll be interesting! After consejo de distrito on Wednesday we went to Chocope to divide for our exchange with Chiclín. I went with Elder Gallegos to Chiclín y Chicama and Elder Larkin went to Independencia. Elder Gallegos is from a tiny village 2 hours from Puno called Yunguyo where there aren't missionaries right now. We planned and set goals. We spent all of the day in Chiclín so we got into a moto and went there. It looks small but there's still quite a lot of people who live there. But man so many people there don't want ...

Week 75: What Does He Ask?

Well this was quite the week! On Tuesday we waited for 45 minutes for the bus to leave so we could go visit Elder Larkin and Elder Gallegos in Chiclín. We talked for a while before heading back for our blitz with the APs. I went with Elder Gerber and Elder Cordova went with my father Elder Beizaga. We went to all the lessons we had planned while the others went to go find. But we ended up doing a lot of finding too because a lot of our lessons fell. We had a noche hogar with our friend Belgica and her daughter Melani in the house of our pensionista with the stake president. We taught about love and charity and played some games. It went well, and Belgica's son Mateo kept coming over to me and E Gerber and squirting his bottle of hand sanitizer. Our hands were very clean by the end of the night. The other elders bought pizza from a place called taco pizza. It wasn't very good but hey It was pizza. Wednesday definitely didn't go the way I thought it was going to. We woke up...

Week 74: Invasion of the Crickets

Image
Hola todos! I hope you're all well! Out here in the valley there are SOOOO many crickets! They're everywhere and get into our apartment, even with the windows closed. On Tuesday night I killed 41 crickets in our apartment! One of them I killed by flushing it down the toilet. These crickets fly in everywhere and strike the walls, and sometimes our faces, like bullets. We find them in our bags and towels and some dogs love to eat them. One investigator has a guitar hung up on the wall and the crickets would fly in and crash into the strings on the guitar, making music. On Tuesday we went to visit our friend Eduardo who came to church on Sunday, but unfortunately he lives in the other ward in Casa Grande. We went with hermano Larry, the 1st counselor in the stake presidency. Eduardo received the lessons in the past but had some mental problems. Now he's better and wants to learn. We put him on date for baptism for the 24th and passed his reference to the other elders in a le...

Week 73: Out to the Valley

Image
Well this was a crazy week! On Tuesday we had our normal lessons and went early to San Francisco to have a lesson with Jimmy. The power was off so we had our lesson by candlelight. Afterwards we had our last lesson with Elis. I didn't know if I was going to be transfered or not so I bore my testimony to her. I hope the message can get to her and that she'll have the faith she needs to be baptized. That night we got back and wanted for transfer new. We were talking with our district all night because some areas got their news at 9:30 but we didn't get anything. So for a while we and Bellavista thought there weren't going to be any transfers, but at 10 the APs sent us a message and both of us are being transfered. Hermana Kuhn also told us that her message said there were going to be hermanas in Huanchaco. So I guess there'll be hermanas in my apartment. A little weird to think about that. We weren't told where we're going or who we're going to be comps ...
