Week 72: Battle Hymn of the Primavera Stake Choir

How are you all doing? I hope you all had a great week! On Tuesday we passed by to see Maria and Marta but they weren't around, so we said hi to Elio, an inactive youth and his mom Gaby. It turns out that Gaby's partner, who's an inactive member, recently moved back to Trujillo to work when he used to work in the mountains. So hopefully we can start teaching them more consistently and about marriage. We also had a lesson with our friend Mike, who sells animal food. He's interested and read all of what we gave him to read in the BoM and a little bit more. Afterwards we helped Nina put up some posters of scenery that are actually from a motorcycle catalog. Then she tried yo teach us to dance the marinara. She's so sweet, but also likes to make fun of us sometimes. On Wednesday we had district council with a surprise visit from the APs! I thought it didn't go well, but Elder Gerber told me it was great. I just need to not be hard on myself. But how nice of Elder ...

Week 71: I'll Go Where You Want Me to Go

This was a week of ups and downs, but it was another great week in the service of the Lord! This week we had a lot of lessons with Nina to prepare her for baptism. We also had a lesson with Lalo and his daughter Eymi. We talked about the Book of Mormon and baptism, and Eymi wants to be baptized! They'll have to come to church first, and the best option will be to have Lalo baptize her, but he and his wife aren't married -_- so we'll see if that's a possibility before we put her on date. We also had another great lesson with hermana Merly in her restaurant where we got to teach her kids too! Later in the week we had a lesson planned with a man named Juan Bautista. whom we had contacted in public. He lives in a weird section of the area I didn't even know existed right next to the airport. But through tha we were able to teach him and 4 of his kids as well! On Tuesday we got to go to the temple as a district! It's great being able to understand it all in Spanish...

Week 70: Filled with the Spirit and a Musical Miracle

Hola todos! This week sure was good here and I hope it was for all of you too! On Tuesday we had a lesson with Nayeli and Maria. We talked about Joseph Smith and the Word of Wisdom. I was worried about how Maria would accept it because they have wine bottles on display, but she ended up having more questions about tea and coffee. But after we read the blessings in D&C 89 she said they were beautiful and accepted to live it! That night we picked up Juan Burgos, our ward mission leader, and we went over to San Francisco for our lesson with Elis. We went with hermano Jimmy, too. It turns out it was Elis' birthday too, so Jimmy brought her a little gift. Elis told us that she liked church, but that she wants to keep getting to know the church more before she gets baptized. Hermano Juan gave a powerful testimony about his conversion and we left her with the commitment to pray about it. Wednesday district council. We've been talking a lot about faith and the faith to find recen...

Week 69: Doing What I'm Supposed to Do

Image
Hola todos! I hope you all are well and things are going great for you! On Wednesday we had a multizone conference with Este and Central. I was asked to play the piano. I don't remember what it's called in English, but I played hymn number 88 in the Spanish hymnbook and Reedemer of Israel. They both went well. President gave a great presentation about faith and finding people that really impacted me. We had what seemed like Café Río Perú for lunch with the gummy shark drink again, as well as cake for birthdays and a brownie and ice cream for dessert. Afterwards we visited Fabricio and Maria and had a lesson with the reviewing the Sabbath day after listening to Maria talk for an hour. They also gave us some Fanta and bizcocho. We also were given directions by our friend Lesli to another friends house, Alex. She didn't give us a direction exactly, so we contacted with a guy named Jhonathan first. We didn't think we could find the house, but Elder Lopez felt to talk to s...

Week 68: Working with Patience and the Spirit

Hello everyone! Another week has gone by and I hope it was just as amazing for you as it was for me! This week on Friday I went on exchanges with Elder Larkin! I went over to his area, Bellavista, but I can tell you it's not a very bella vista😂 But it was fun reliving the days when we were comps and joking about old memories. The area is kinda dead so we did a lot of areabook cleaning and finding. We had a lesson with an old lady who cut us off during the first vision video and said she wasn't interested. Awww we hadn't even gotten to the best part yet. But we thanked her for her time and left. We found some cool people, Mairim and Jhonathan, too. But at night we went to the house of a man named Jorge. He isn't a member, but the rest of his family are. They're semi active. Jorge and his pareja (who's a member) aren't married. I shared the story of Abraham and Isaac and posed the question to them, "What are you willing to give up or do in order to foll...
