Week 56: Trespassing?
Another week in the books! I don't really remember what happened this week but we'll see what I got.
On Wednesday we had district council, which I centered in humility. We also discussed what we could do for our pday as a district outside of the zone we talked about going to President's house to cook food! I asked if we coukd do that to Hermana Hiatt and she said yes! I'm excited for that. After the district council Elder Goates came on exchanges with me in Huanchaco. He really likes the area and is honestly a little jealous of it. We worked hard and even got Fabricio to commit to baptism! Last week when we invited him he said not yet, but it's good to know he has a firm desire now. His grandfather, Julio, who's not together with his wife now, was there as well. We adjusted our lesson to fit both teaching him and Fabricio. I asked him to offer the pray and he started to cry while offering it, opening his heart up to repentance. Elder Goates used a long example/story that was powerful about baptism and repentance to extend the invitation to be baptized. That's his teaching style, which is cool. We also met with Nina, who's a sweet old lady, and hermano Cirilo and his family. He's a reference who I hadn't met yet, bur he seems really cool and has a stranger desire to come to church. His daughter seems to be interested too and his partner a little bit too, but we don't know about their son.
On Thursday we went to Fabricio's but learned that his mom didn't give him permission. She thinks he has to be mature to make a decision like this, even though he's one of the most mature 12 year olds I've met. She doesn't understand, so we hope that by having Fabricio show his desire to his mom and us doing everything we can we can see good results. I hope you can keep him and his mom in your prayers.
After that we had to get all the way around the highway to get to our next appointment, which would've been 30 minutes walking basically. We saw a path that led through to the other side on Google maps so we went there. It was a dirt path that had a sign that said to be careful because there might be guard dogs. We were little on time so we went anyway. As we walked we found out it was a farm, as we saw cows, sheep, goats, horses, etc. Everyone working there seemed chill that we were walking there until we got to the gate to get out when one guy said there was no exit. We were standing right next to the door and telling him that we needed to leave through the door. He said no and that there was no exit, even though we were right next to the door, telling us that we should have read the sign. We did, but it didn't say, "this is private property, there's no exit, do not enter," it just said that there were dogs. So he forced us out, but when we turned back after walking a distance we saw him open the door for someone else to leave. Was it that hard? So that made us late and we had to cancel a lesson.
Today we got to go to the mall for compras and to pull our money. I saw Elder Ochoa and Elder Kennedy and they told me that they also put hermana Eymi on date for the 18th! That will make 4 baptisms with people I taught in Pueblo Libre for that day. The other people, Maria, Marissa, and Adrian are all going strong for right now, too. Hopefully I'll get permission to go to their baptisms.
That's all for me! I hope you all have a fantastic week and I'll write to you then!
